According to the State of Louisiana, Niels Gram, aka Spiral, is a textbook psychopath. A study conducted by Doctor Richard Corso on Gram during his commitment at Ascension Asylum for the Mentally Ill concluded that he scores high on many of the traits assessed by the Hare Psychopathy Checklist.
Glib and Superficial Charm
Grandiose Estimation of Self
Need for Stimulation
Pathological Lying
Cunning and Manipulativeness
Lack of Remorse or Guilt
Superficial Emotional Responsiveness
Lack of Empathy
Poor Behavior Controls
Lack of Realistic Long-Term Goals
Impulsivity
Failure to Accept Responsibility For Own Actions
Criminal Versatility
However, Gram’s exceptional skill of people mastery, combined with his charm and aristocratic manners, allows him to hide aspects of his personality that many might consider unnatural. When necessary, he can project different versions of himself in order to mask his true nature. This has often worked in his advantage when required to navigate professional and social relationships, given his alleged criminal history.
Strengths:
KEEPS MOVING FORWARD
GOES FOR THE KILL
DEVASTATING SUBMISSIONS
Weaknesses:
OVERCONFIDENCE
DISREGARD FOR HIS OWN HEALTH
Match Tendencies: Spiral is calculating and not easily distracted. He will largely ignore the crowd, both on the way to the ring, and during the fight. He will, on occasion, drop his hands to lure in an opponent, either to catch them with a counter-punch, pull them into a clinch, or take them to the ground.
He will usually talk to his opponent when on the ground, especially if he has the man locked into a hold or submission.
Backstage Tendencies: Spiral is adaptive. One moment, he will keep to himself and observe, and the next he will make himself the center of attention. How he behaves and what mask he adopts depends solely on what is required at the moment to achieve his goals.
Ring Attire: Spiral wears black vale tudo shorts. His ankles, wrists, and knuckles are wrapped in black tape.
Supporting Cast(Managers, Valets, Bag boys, etc.): None
Moveset
Wrestling Style: Spiral has over the years phased out classic professional wrestling styles in favor of a martial-arts-based philosophy, preferring practical brutality of MMA over the theatrics of pro wrestling. After all, why throw a beautiful drop kick when you can front-kick someone in the chest and cause much more damage.
Spiral is a world-class striker, blending techniques from Keysi Fighting Method, Muay Thai, western boxing, and karate. He attacks with his hands and feet equally, and always with purpose. He doesn’t attack without a plan, and hitting an opponent fifty times is pointless when a calculated, well-placed hook can send a foe straight to the canvas.
He is also a high-level brown belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He won't always initiate takedowns, but he is very dangerous on his back, and will pull careless wrestlers into submissions in a blink of an eye.
He uses the lax rule set of professional wrestling to his advantage, often using traditionally illegal techniques such as gouging, biting, and small joint manipulation.
Another major influence on his fighting style is that he was born with Hereditary Sensory and Autonomic Neuropathy (HSAN), a hereditary condition that causes an indifference to pain.
Although he can feel a punch to the face, it does not register as painful, and thus he will not flinch or withdraw on instinct. If he is aware that he has taken too much damage through observation, he may protect that part of his body, but otherwise, he will always move forward.
He is not, however, invincible, and in fact, HSAN often puts him in greater danger. Repeated strikes to his knee will not cause him pain, but it may strain or tear the ligaments, causing him to limp or collapse under his own weight. Pain for normal people protects them from damage. He lacks this stopgap, often making him vulnerable to debilitating attacks that could leave him physically unable to continue, like a broken bone or torn muscle, unless he consciously chooses to protect himself.
From an early age till his teenage years, Gram underwent ABA therapy to teach him how to identify when something should hurt, and to avoid major injury. This allows him to compete despite his condition. He is acutely aware of the condition of his body, even if he can’t feel the pain telling him that his arm is about to break from the armbar, or his knee can’t take another kick.
Despite this, his body has still become covered with hideous keloid scars, enduring welts from primitive sutures and strangely unexplainable excrescences. These are the reminders of the pain he cannot feel, and are on display whenever he enters the ring. His face is mostly free of these marks, as he is very vain, and will protect it from permanent damage.
