Hello everyone, this is Skip Sanders. Once a former on air reporter and interviewer, now I’m a producer for Phoenix Wrestling. While I’d love to dazzle you with fancy video packages and the like, I’ve got a ton to cover and I want to keep it condensed as possible. So without further adieu, let’s get down to it!
ROWYN STARR RETURNS TO THE RING
One of the biggest surprises on this past Redemption was Rowyn Starr making an appearance in the crowd, stopping Mason Daniels from maiming Hirooki Rajin and Richard Roque. He called out Mason for all the evil he’s put on PW, and said he would have his revenge. Mason Daniels promptly challenged him to a match, and now the two will meet again at the 2018 Supershow. Mason is adamant that he will do anything to put Rowyn out of action permanently this time. With the numbers game behind Mason, Rowyn might wanna look into getting some backup. What does the future lay in store for the Dark Star in 2018?
THREE SIGNINGS IN THREE DAYS
With recent talent getting injured and failing to make the cut, Slaine went on a signing spree, picking up three talented free agents. James Edwards, who has been seen in FGA has decided to join Phoenix to test his mettle against the best. Having competed against Nina Stokes before, she can vouch for this young man’s fortitude. Chase Manni Bryant is a young rookie with a lot to prove, and is willing to show off his hard hitting, incredibly fast paced style in the Rising Phoenix division. Fenix Shields is part of a group of brothers looking to break into professional wrestling. No relation to PW Alumni Chris Shields. Well he has a brother named Chris Shields. But it’s not the same Chris Shields. You know what I mean. Anyways I had a chance to talk with the new signing, and he had the following to say.
“First off I'd like to thank Phoenix Wrestling for reaching out to me. I sent out a few resumes worked out for a few companies but no one got back to me. Not with so much as a "No Thanks" Now a Fenix is about to soar here in Phoenix Wrestling.”
Fenix will get his chance to soar as he faces off against James Edwards and Chase Manni Bryant in a Three Way Dance in the opening match at the 2018 Supershow.
TWO INJURIES BACK TO BACK
Unfortunately injuries are a part of the game we must accept. Two up and comers now find themselves on the shelf. Jrue Oliver is out of action with a torn ACL from a brutal backstage beat down by Shooter Reed and his gang at Tempest 2. Vin Bell suffered a broken jaw and a concussion at the hands of Giles Whitmor at Redemption 122. We here at Phoenix Wrestling wish these young men a speedy recovery.
WCS GLOBAL FRONTIER 9 WAS A DOOZY
The show was loaded with talent from top to bottom, with some of the biggest stars in Phoenix Wrestling competing for some of the top prizes in WCS. Mason Daniels and Giles Whitmor battled it out for the WCS World Crown Championship in a crazy scaffold match. Danielle Vasquez of SSWA would go on to win that match and the championship with Mason lasting to the very end.
Lance Winters defended the Rising Phoenix Championship against Shooter Reed in what was a rowdy affair. Shooter’s gang tried to make an impact in the match, but Lance went beast mode on them and took them out of the equation. The match eventually ended with Lance putting Shooter through the announcer’s table with the Reaper Driver to get the win and retain his championship.
Our Rebirth Champion Anastasia Starling put on a HELL of a performance against the current HELL Champion Michiko Yamada. The two went at it in a very back and forth match for over thirty minutes. Eventually Michiko scored the W, evening her record with Anastasia to 1-1.
Former Duos Champions Hell Is Waiting defended their SAP championships against Becky and Lani San Diego. The team emerged victorious over the sisters, putting yet another successful defense under their belts.
And finally…
FRISKY D. WINS THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Current number one contender to the Rebirth Championship, Frisky D. emerged victorious in a six person scramble match to win the WCS International Championship. She dethroned the dominant Aries Amadaist to win the belt, and will be facing him in a rematch for the championship at HELL’s Fin III. We wish our homegrown superstar the best of luck in her defense!
PW PRESENTS THE SUPERSHOW 2018
Every year Slaine likes to surprise the fans with a packed super show out of nowhere. This year is no exception as it's set to feature some of the biggest stars in Phoenix Wrestling competing. While many are excited for Rowyn Starr’s return to the ring against Mason Daniels, there’s also the dream match of Nina Stokes vs. Aurora vs. Frisky D. I for one cannot wait to see those talented women clash. Not to mention all three titles will be on the line. Lance Winters defends his Rising Phoenix Championship against Jade. New Duos Champions Chris and Mandi Andrew defend their belts against Asger and Azazel. And in the main event, Rebirth Champion Anastasia Starling will defend her gold against former two time PW World Champion and former Duos Champion, Masaru Inoue. All three matches hold the potential of a new champion being crowned. All this and more coming to you from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama on May 29th.
RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER...UNDER THE COLISEUM LIGHTS 7
For seven years PW has hosted an event that features the best of the best battling it out on a stacked supercard. If you thought the 2018 Supershow was a big show, you ain’t seen nothing yet. On July 8th we’ll be heading to the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina with a star studded event. All titles will be defended on this show, including a very special match proposed by Slaine Rodrick. I tried to prod Slaine for information about the match but he was quite vague. All he would tell me is that the match would feature six of the best wrestlers in Phoenix Wrestling battling out for the Rebirth Championship in a grueling structure. It will be a first to Phoenix Wrestling. With rumored participants of Aurora, Masaru Inoue, Frisky D., and Anastasia Starling, that’s definitely a match to look out for.
A NEW CHAMPIONSHIP?
It’s been widely rumored backstage Slaine is looking to bring in a new championship soon. I had to know, so I hit up the president myself. He wasn’t one to divulge too much about it, but he told me that it would be a unique title to Phoenix Wrestling in a class of it’s own. Also he spilled that he will be holding a tournament to crown the new champion. Hmm...that’s right around the time of another Phoenix tournament.
THE 5TH ANNUAL IRON KING TOURNAMENT
There’s no other tournament like it in professional wrestling. Entering it’s fifth year, Iron King returns in July to crown a new Iron King. If you look down the list, it represents the simply very best of professional wrestling. Hall of Famer Tj Jones, Multiple time World Champion Ja Gi Kyung-Moon, SCW Legend Gryphon, and former Rebirth Champion Cassius Reed. The tournament features PW talent and the top free agents in the world competing in a series of combat sport events to determine if they’re well rounded enough to be crowned Iron King. It's been confirmed that Slaine has been negotiating recently with the premier MMA company Caged Glory Fighting Championships to have some of their talent represent in this combat sports tournament. Dragon Champion Jason Jackson has professed early interest in the tournament, as has former PW World Champion turned cage fighter, BAD ASS. If there’s legitimate MMA fighters representing this year, we could very well have one of the best in MMA holding a Phoenix Wrestling championship. Exciting times!
