A large sign that read Vitality MMA appeared on the screen as the picture faded in the. The camera quickly began to focus in a large, twenty-by-twenty foot ring that sat in the center of the gymnasium. A woman decked out in an ornate Spider Gwen costume (full mask and all) sat inside of it. Well, she was technically inside of it—
Her bum was planted on the middle ropes as she leaned forward and rested her folded arms on the top rope. Her legs dangled down just a bit. She turned her head just a bit on a whim; it was then that she finally noticed the camera’s presence. She gave a quick wave of her right hand before she began speaking.
“Yo yo yo! What’s going on everyone? It’s your fake friendly neighborhood web-crawler. I’m here at Vitality’s Miami branch, you know, just hanging out.” She let out a small laugh, quite pleased with her heavy-handed pun. “It’s a lovely place. Great owners, great trainers, dedicated to the community. Check em’ out if you are ever in the area, you won’t be disappointed. And naw, I’m not getting paid, technically. It’s just a bit of free pub—everyone get one ad, you know?”
She stretched out her left leg a bit and allowed her right one to cross over it. She then rested her left heel on the bottom rope.
“Being a hero is hard, you know? You often live double lives. And would you care to know my other occupation is?” She paused for a moment or two. Almost dramatically, the camera panned around, allowing the beautiful wrestling ring to be observed in all its glory. “If you guessed professional wrestler, then you’ve won the million dollar prize (a million prize not actually included).”
She waited for the camera to turn its attention back on her before she spoke again.
“Although, it’s been quite a bit of time since I’ve actually been in the ring. You see, I was totally killing it last year. I traveled the world. I kicked ass. I took names. Hell, I even established some new records! It was one hell of a ride, I’ll tell you that much. But then I got banged up in my last match. My right arm took a beating.” She paused for a moment. “I’m stubborn as shit—everyone knows that. But, I decided to listen to my body for once and take a small break. So instead of wrestling up a storm, I rested and relaxed.” She quickly snapped her fingers. “I still fulfilled my hero obligations though! You know, skills and talent and shit.”
There was a small pause as she sat there in silence for a second or two.
“But as I said before, I’m stubborn and persistent as bitch. As soon as I was cleared, I went back to light training. And as I continued to improve, light training shifted back to my regularly scheduled training.” She nodded her hooded head. “I felt better and better as each day went by. And now?” She gently pushed off the ropes a bit and lifted her up her right arm. She flexed it. Although her body suit covered the arm, her muscles are distinct and defined. “I’m feeling almost as good as I did when I first started wrestling. And shit, can you peep all these gains!? You know I’ve been putting that work in.”
She re-folded her arms and leaned against the ropes once more. “You know, lately I’ve been this this feeling. It’s not a simple urge; naw, it’s too strong to be that. It’s a craving. A yearning. I love being able to sit at home and relax all day. I love being able to get up and travel on a whim. But the wrestler in me has been screaming for me to return…
“So I shall oblige her, a little bit anyway.”
She let a small chuckle slip out. “But it would be stupid to just jump right in full force, wouldn’t it? I mean, I aint mixed it up in three to four months. So I told the wrestler inside me that we were going to ease back into things and take it slow. That’s the smartest thing to do.
“Which I suppose leads us to Phoenix Wrestling’s 2017 Boats N’ Throws Extravaganza!” She nodded once more. “I actually watched Phoenix when I was but a mere hero and wrestling fan. The product was amazing and the wrestlers were out of this world. It was a huge blow to the wrestling world when the company shut down its operations.
“But as they say, you can’t keep a good thing down for long. That goes for a wrestler, a promotion, or a web-slinging heroine, haha.
“It’s been nearly a full year since Phoenix's fateful rebirth, and the company is going just as strong as ever! It is still an amazing promotion, filled with awesome and talented wrestlers. And to celebrate all of that, Phoenix has brought back its watery battle royal style match. And If last year’s event is any indication, this shit is going to be wild. But I love it; it’s stuff like this that makes wrestling the best sport in the world, you know?”
Feeling a bit restless, she uncrossed her legs.
“I hear that the winner gets a shot at Cassius Reed. Could you imagine if I won that shit? Me, the PW Rebirth Champion? That would be wild!” She held up her right index finger. “But it’s not out of the realm of possibility. That’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my life—anything is possible, no matter how outlandish it might sound.”
Tired of her legs gandling, she crossed her left leg over her right one.
“I never thought I’d get a chance to be apart of a Phoenix Wrestling event, and now I’ve got the chance. You can bet your ass I’m going to make the most of it. However, that’s what I always do—make the most out of any situation, good or bad.” She nodded. “But no matter what happens, I know that this event is going to help me out in the long run. It’s going to give me that shoot of rejuvenation that wrestler and fighter inside me craves…”
She paused for a moment. “But I’ll save all the violence and carnage for that match, yeah?”
She nodded as she uncrossed her legs for the last time.
“So to Phoenix Wrestling, thank you for allowing me to be apart of this historic event. It’s an honor. And to the wrestlers involved, let’s mixed up and kill it yeah?”
She unfolded her arms and held onto the top rope as she bounced her rump backwards off of the middle rope. She was able to swiftly spring off the middle rope just as soon as the soles of her feet connected. Her landing was quite nibble as she stood all the way up. However, she then launched out a lightening fast roundhouse out of nowhere.
“Oh, and beware of those head kicks. I’ve been told they hurt like a bitch.”
She laughed as the camera’s picture slowly faded out.
