Crystal sat alone in her cell, blankets pulled up over her as the cold, stale air in the cellar tried to wrap itself around her, freezing every inch of her being as she shivered underneath the covers. The blanket wasn't anywhere near thick and heavy enough to keep her comfortable; just enough to stop her from freezing to death on the coldest of nights. This was one of those nights. She was far from comfortable as he teeth chattered together, making a sound that echoed across the cement walls. As the young woman sat in the corner, knees pulled up to her chest; she realized it had been some time since she had even eaten; it had been some time since she had even seen the man whom was holding her hostage.
Her stomach grumbled as she began to notice just how hungry she was. It was at that moment in time in which she wished she had stowed away some of the crackers he had been giving her. As her hunger continued to set in, she heard a door upstairs open and shut, and then footsteps coming from above her. She listened, her eyes going towards the cellar door as the footsteps make their way over there. The door slowly opens and the lights come on as she begins to the see the feet of her capture begin to walk down the stairs before he finally reaches the bottom of the stairs, grocery bags in his hands.
Crystal stands to her feet, blanket still covering her as she made her way to the bars that enclosed her. Mason slowly walks over to her cell and stops just outside of her arm's reach. He looks at her, obviously being able to tell that she wasn't happy or comfortable. Daniels took a slight breath and then reached into the bag, pulling out a loaf of bread. He hands it over to Crystal along with a jar of peanut butter. Mason reaches into the bag again, pulling out a bag of chips and then a few bottles of water. Crystal quickly grabs them all and moves back further into the cell with her new found treasures. She then looks up at the man.
Crystal: Thank you.
Mason: Don't go getting all sentimental on me. I'm not trying to be nice. I just don't know when I'll be back and I can't have you dying of thirst or dehydration in here. I need you very much alive for what's ahead; you're no use to me dead and withered away in this cell.
Crystal: Why do you not know when you're going to be back?
Mason: Look, not that it concerns you; but I have to face Masaru in a few days; and matches with him tend to end with people in the hospital, especially when the bastard loses.
Crystal: No Mason, anyone but Masaru. I've heard my brother talk about him; I heard him talk about the things he has done to you. If you face him, I could be trapped here with no one to give me food or water. I could die here.
Mason scoffs slightly before responding.
Mason: Don't you worry your pretty little face off, I am not the only person who knows where you are. There is one more who can feed and take care of you until I recover.
Crystal: Please Mason, no. I know who you probably told and my life will be hell if he is the one. Don't face Masaru. Just stay here; just stay here, taunt my brother; go after him, whatever you want; just don't go.
Mason: Look at you, getting all sentimental again. I am going, and I will be returning. If there is one man in this business who knows how to handle that Japanese Kamikaze motherfucker it is me. Whether he wants to admit it or not, I am his own special brand of Kryptonite. He can act all big and bad because he won a World Championship after putting me out of commission; but he knows damn well that if I had been there; if I had still be competing, that title would have been around my waist.
Crystal: Mason please, I want to see my brother again one day; and if something happens to you, that probably will never happen again. I know about Rick; he truly is what you portray yourself to be. You're not though. Mason, I know deep down inside that you are a good man; I know that you're a good man who is in so much pain and you're just looking for anyone to blame but yourself. So you turned on my brother and you dug your hole deeper and deeper.
Mason: You don't know what you're talking about Crystal. There is no good left in me; there is no light at the end of the tunnel; there is no turning back. I am what you're brother made me, and soon enough, he will pay the price for that. Once he has paid, you will go home to your family; until then, you will be right here and you will be kept very much alive.
Crystal: I know you believe that right now, but I know that this is not who you are. As much as you may want it to be right now, this is not who you are. You're heart is not in it Mason. I can see that through what interactions we have had. You're not Rick, Mason. You never have been and you never will be. Your heart is too kind, too loving for all of that. A broken heart is capable of terrible things, but once it heals, you will look back on this and your heart will ache once more for this is not you.
Mason makes his way right up to the cage, placing his hands on the bars and bringing his face so close that it appears that if he could, he would force his head right into the cage. There was a fire in his eyes as he began to speak much more aggressively.
Mason: What do you know little girl? You're still very much a kid. You're still in college, going out with your girlfriends and having a grand ole' time. You know nothing of the real world and what it has to offer. You live in this cute little bubble and think that yes, there is evil in the world but for you, it will always be rainbows and butterflies. You sit in this cage and you see that belief under fire and you cling to whatever hope you have left. This idea that there is something inside of me worth saving, it's a fairy tale. You see good because there has to be good; because if there isn't, then your belief that the world is good would be proven wrong and your world would be lost to you. So don't sit there and patronize me and tell me who I am and who I am not. You don't know me; you don't know what I have seen or been through.
Mason begins to walk away and then stops, turning around to once again look at his hostage.
Mason: Don't ever again take what I do as a sign of compassion or caring. You are well and alive and taken care of because it benefits me right now that you be that way. It isn't because I care about what happens to you. If I cared about what happened to you, you wouldn't be in that cage right now; you wouldn't even be here. You're just another piece to the puzzle; another pawn in the game; and soon enough, it will all come to an end.
Mason begins to make his way up the stairs towards the door and then stops for a moment when he hears her voice once more.
Crystal: Just please be safe. Don't let Masaru take what pieces of humanity you have left; he isn't worth the cost.
Mason then opens the door and shuts and locks it behind him and he storms back through the upstairs area and walks out, his footsteps being heard the whole time by Crystal who just remained seated in her cell, hoping and praying for a moment that Mason would return back safely for a moment before quickly snapping out of it and remembering that she was here because of him. She couldn't believe what she had just been feeling towards the man; what was she thinking. Those thoughts echoed through he mind as she prepared her meal to satisfy her starving stomach.

History
There is a lot of it between us Masaru. Our battles against each other are things of legend. When I first stormed the ring; these stupid, pathetic fans not knowing what had transpired over the years that I was gone; when I first came back, face to face with you in the PW ring, the fans went insane because they knew at some point in time, it would come to this. They knew that at some point in time, our hatred of each other would boil over and this match would take place. Mason Daniels and Masaru Inoue Four!
There has been a lot of bad blood between us through the years. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have poured from both of our bodies during that time. Three times we faced off; three times we truly went to war with each other. Our rivalry has gone down as one of the greatest in Phoenix Wrestling history. I know you thought you had ended it all years ago; I know you thought that when you attacked me after our third match, putting me into a coma; you thought you had ended it forever. Yet here I am. You can beat a dog Masaru, but you can never keep him down.
So here I am Masaru; here I stand a stronger, angrier animal and my teeth are definitely beginning to show. You think you can walk around and flaunt your accomplishments; you think you can walk around and hide behind Aurora, well guess what Masaru, you can't. You and I both know that at the end of the day, you still have only beaten me once. We have face off three times, and I am the one that holds the majority of the victories. Sure you may have scalped me after one of the matches; sure you may have put me in a coma after our final one; but at the end of the day I am one of the few men that can claim to have gotten the better of you.
You can act all big and bad now if you want, but you know that I scare the living shit out of you. You can play it off to yourself and Aurora; you can act as if you have nothing to fear in facing me; but the very nature of the match you challenged me to proves just how afraid of me you are. You challenged me to a Birdcage Deathmatch; yet you seem to have forgotten who the fuck I am in thinking that this match somehow played into your favor. Do you forget that I am the man that they once called The Dean of Extreme? Do you forget that I stepped into The Pentagram and came so close to walking out with the title? Do you forget that I am the man who stood tall against you in some of your most devious and maniacal creations?
Masaru, you are delusional to think that this match gives you the advantage. You decided to step into the ring with an animal; so you decided the best thing to do was put that same animal in a cage and give it weapons? You're dumber and crazier than I thought Masaru; but so be it. If this is what you really want to do, then fine, I will make you pay the price. I will make you pay for all the things you have done to me in the past. I will make you pay for scalping me all those years ago; and I will make you pay for almost ending my life.
You know Masaru, it's funny to me. A year or so ago, I had actually almost let all of this go. I had almost gotten to the point where I would say to myself; Masaru is gone; he's not returning. His time has past and he is no more; just an image of my past. Then Phoenix Wrestling decided to open it's doors once more after so many years and whom did I see join the roster but you. I have been waiting for this day; I've been waiting for this match for so long. I know that Rowyn was supposed to take part in this, but I am definitely happy he is not; because at The Awakening, it will be all about you and me.
It's actually a really fitting name for this Pay-Per-View when you think about it Masaru. On February Twenty-Sixth, our rivalry will be reawakened. In Portland, Oregan, I will set foot inside the glass structure known as The Birdcage and the animal inside of me will be awakened. You wanted this match so badly that I don't think you stopped to think just who you were challenging to a match. I mean come on Masaru, do you not remember who the fuck I am? Cause if you don't, I will make sure to remind you when we set foot in that ring.
The time for games is over. You wanted me; you wanted to settle and even the score; well here's your chance. I know that you think that you're going to walk into the ring with me and walk out with an easy victory. I know that you buy into all your own hype; but I also know that you remember both of your losses to me. I know that deep down you know that you are stepping into the ring with one of the most dangerous men in all of Phoenix Wrestling. You can deny it all you want, but you know deep down that setting foot in the ring with me scares the living shit out of you. It is your worst nightmare, and I am your Freddy Kruger; and guess what Masaru, there will be no waking up from this nightmare. This nightmare, Masaru, isn't even a nightmare; it's reality.
Talk all the shit you want; act as bat shit crazy as you want Masaru; in the end it will get you nowhere with me and you know it. You may have everyone else in this place scared; you may have everyone else in this place fooled; but not me. I know exactly who you are and I know you better than you even know yourself. I know what makes you tick; I know what drives you; and I know what you are capable of. I have seen it and experienced it all first hand. I know you better than anyone and you knew the old me better than anyone; but you don't know this me. You don't know what drives The War Hound, Masaru, and that should scare you most of all.
This isn't the same Mason Daniels that you will be setting foot in the ring with. This isn't the Mason Daniels that you hold a single victory over. No, no, no my friend; this is the Mason Daniels that you could have never beaten; this is the Mason Daniels that would have never left you capable of attacking him after our matches; this is the Mason Daniels that will destroy your legacy and your future here in Phoenix Wrestling.
Oh Masaru, how times have changed; but you my friend haven't changed with them. You see, you're the same guy I knew back then, and hey, what can I say, it definitely worked for you in my absence. I mean look at you; you had won the biggest title of them all. Once Aurora came and you realized that would never happen again, you teamed with her as to avoid her wrath. Good for you, winning titles and making friends.
Me though, I had to change; I had to evolve; I had to become better. When you step into the ring with me at The Awakening; you won't be stepping into the ring with the same ole' Mason Daniels that you used to face. You won't be stepping into the ring with the man is just out here to put on a show for these fans. You will be facing a rabid dog that is on the war path; you'll be facing an animal that is hell bent on destroying you and making you suffer. You will be facing a beast that wants nothing more then to watch you suffer just before he ends your very existence; and you decided to give that beast the toys to do it with. Thanks for that.
